Cadenza WELL Certification

BDA are happy to pass on more good news for the Cadenza commercial building on Earlsfort Terrace. The building has attained GOLD Level for Final Performance Review to WELL v1, Q3 2018 on 30th January 2024. BDA were involved in this development on all stages resulting in an exceptional building wrapped on the two prominent sides with a suspended limestone clad veil, providing shade to the office glazing and reflected light deep into the floorplates. This all hovers over the ground floor which consists of largely shaded 6.8 metre curved glass units to open up the entrance area. Together these greatly enhance the quality of the working environment.

The Sorting Office - Cardiff Lane

The former An Post site at Cardiff Lane and Hanover Street has been developed by Marlet Property Group and designed by Henry J Lyons Architects. The new building offers a seven storey high commercial office building, built to the highest construction standards. The Sorting Office project was completed in July 2020 and has since been awarded LEED Platinum certification.

The external façade consists of a combination of acid etched precast concrete panels with large aluminium unitised curtain wall frames, incorporating high performance insulated glass units. The average weight of the glass units are in excess of 600 kg per pane.

Both the South and East elevations of the building have horizontal and vertical perforated aluminium brise soleil fins, strategically placed to minimise solar gains. The upper terrace levels are set back to create external terrace gardens with a fully transparent cantilever glass balustrade framing the perimeter of the building for the occupants’ comfort.

Kingston University

Grafton’s Kingston University Townhouse project has been shortlisted for the 2022, European Commission, Mies van der Rohe award. BDA were involved throughout the process from early design and tender to design development and site review. The use of multi-level clear curtain walling to vast communal areas provides truly transparent façades, opening up the building to the public. This was a successful translation of the architects intent.

2020

One Nine Elms

BDA have been involved in this landmark project since 2013, initially with KPF and latterly Multiplex and R&F. With its scale, rich mixture of uses and elegant design the project has given BDA the opportunity to exercise our full range of skills and has given us the chance to help create a stunning world class project creating some of the tallest residential towers in Europe. The project comprises a 56 storey City Tower, a separate 42 storey River Tower and a 173 room luxury hotel that will occupy the lower floors of the River Tower up to the 18th floor.  Upon completion, the development will provide in excess of 730,000 sq ft of residential apartments, 267,000 sq ft of hotel accommodation and 1,000 sq ft of retail outlets. A stunning residential lounge and sky garden will be located on level 50, offering panoramic views of London across the River Thames.

Dubai Creek Tower

BDA have been closely involved with Santiago Calatrava and his team from the project’s inception. It will become the world’s tallest man-made structure. Construction started in October 2016. The foundations alone involved the excavation of 170,000 m³ of earth and used  15,000 tonnes of steel and 211,000 tonnes of concrete. The project itself has a cost of $1 billion dollars. The extreme climate and the building’s great height have made the design process for BDA both challenging and fascinating. When complete, the building will provide a stunning, elegant viewing platform, affording spectacular views of Dubai Creek and beyond.
