Sean Billings 1942 - 2012
Sean Billings passed away at 12.10am on 10 July 2012. He was surrounded by his family and was very comfortable. We thank all the wonderful staff at the Blackrock Hospice in Dublin for their amazing work.

Tate Modern
BDA have been appointed to provide technical assistance to Herzog & de Meuron and their Design Team on the new extension to the Tate Modern gallery in London. Construction is due to commence soon. |

Digicel Downtown Development, Kingston, Jamaica
The new Digicel development in Jamaica will house their Caribbean headquarters. It will include retail areas and intended to help revive this historic area of Kingston. Designed by de Blacam & Meagher Architects BDA are appointed as the cladding consultants for all façade elements. |

Warsaw Spire, Poland
BDA have recently been appointed by Bakkala for the design development phase of this 50 storey office building in the centre of Warsaw. This toroidal, twisting glazed tower has been designed by Belgian architects, Jaspers - Eyers & Partners and developers Ghelamco.

World Trade Centre P.A.T.H. Station Oculus, New York, USA
Santiago Calatrava’s complex steel and glass structure is in the procurement stage. The sliding glass roof for which BDA provided scheme design solutions is currently being tendered.

Peace Bridge, Calgary, Canada
Santiago Calatrava’s pedestrian & bike bridge will connect Downtown Calgary with the community of Sunnyside over the river Bow, the Peace Bridge is currently being installed.

The British Antarctic survey facility has now been installed on site with all of the blue pods and “BIG RED” moved into position.

This state of the art research facility for training in Dermatology and System Biology at the UCD campus is now fully operational, since in April of the year.

W Hotel, London, UK
The 5 star W Hotel, London recently opened its doors to paying customers. The high end hotel development was also awarded a prestigious award at the MIPIM 2011 in Cannes.

Criminal Courts Complex, Dublin
The Criminal Courts Complex has been completed and is now operational. The building is designed by Henry J Lyons Architects, Dublin. BDA have consulted on all facade elements. |

Halley VI Research Station, Antarctica
One of the blue pods is currently being tested in the Antarctica undergoing various tests. The other pods are currently under construction in South Africa. They will then be shipped over and towed by ski into position.

BDA has been appointed as cladding consultants on the new Biosciences building in Trinity College, Dublin, for RKD architects. |

BDA congratulate Grafton Architects for their award winning building, La Nuova Universita Bocconi, in Milan. The building won the inaugural World Architecture Award against leading architectural practices including Foster & Partners and Zaha Hadid. BDA consulted on the design of the structural glass entrance glazing and atrium glass shingle construction. |

Chicago Spire is a 609m tall, residential tower which will be the tallest building in the USA and tallest all-residential tower in the world. The Design work is virtually complete and the team are waiting for the go-ahead to order the facade. |

Eircom Head Quarters, Dublin
Practical completion has been reached on the RAUG designed corporate headquarters for Eircom. The buildings envelope mainly consisted of a deep set twin skin construction incorporating a unitised aluminium inner skin and a delicate suspended low-iron glass screen. |

BDA are carrying out a feasibility study for the refurbishment of Sir Michael Hopkins house in Hampstead, London.
Sean Billings originally designed and constructed the external skin to the house, while the owner of Aluminium Systems Ltd in 1975. |

Sean Billings Appointed Honorary Fellow of RIBA
Sean has been appointed an Honorary Fellow of Royal Institute of British Architects for his innovative support for architects and engineers and for pushing the boundaries of both disciplines.
